Former top executives from Palantir have founded the startup Dream and raised $17 million in an investment round led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z). The new company specializes in creating specialized AI world models for the construction industry.
Unlike general-purpose language systems, the model from Dream is trained on real laws of physics and current construction standards. To train it, the developers used a dataset covering more than 100 million square meters of buildings, collected from permit documentation archives across the United States.
The team will use the funding to scale the platform and develop generative modeling technology for capital construction projects.
