Adobe and UC San Diego have created EditAgent for working in Photoshop

The Adobe Research team, in collaboration with the University of California, San Diego, has introduced an experimental system called EditAgent. This new AI approach is designed to mimic the actions of a professional designer when working with graphic editors.
Instead of repeatedly running universal generative models to edit the entire image, the agent automatically selects a specific, specialized tool for each task. A standard language model evaluates the generated options based on numerical image data and selects the highest-quality result.
The developers note the high efficiency of the method in practice, although the system requires approximately 10 times more computational resources compared to standard approaches.
The research demonstrates a new path for integrating AI into professional workflows, where agents control specific software functions rather than simply creating images from scratch based on text prompts.
