CloudOpsBench benchmark introduced for evaluating AI agents in DevOps

Researchers have introduced CloudOpsBench, a new open-source benchmark designed to test the capabilities of AI agents in managing cloud infrastructure. The tool evaluates model performance in executing typical DevOps tasks that require logical reasoning and strict adherence to technical protocols.
As part of the testing, agents must handle a wide range of operations: from fixing faulty services and deleting unused resources to configuring access rights, deploying updates, and fully decommissioning projects. The benchmark simulates real-world scenarios that engineers encounter when maintaining cloud environments.
Initial test results showed that the main "bottleneck" for modern AI systems is not the speed of code generation, but rather the ability to perform logical reasoning. Many models demonstrate difficulties in planning the sequential actions required for safely changing configurations or managing access in complex systems.
For practitioners in cloud computing and AI agent development, this benchmark will serve as a tool for assessing the readiness of models for autonomous work in production environments. Using CloudOpsBench allows for identifying critical gaps in model skills before trusting them to manage real infrastructure projects.
