Elvis and Eminem rights holders sue Suno

The rights holders to the musical legacy of Elvis Presley and the publisher of Eminem's songs have filed lawsuits against the music generator Suno. The plaintiffs accuse the company of illegally creating compositions and lyrics that imitate the style of famous artists.
In the lawsuit filed on behalf of Elvis Presley's rights holders, lawyers argue that the platform violated Tennessee state law. Separate claims concern the publishers of Eminem's catalog, whose tracks were also used to train the company's generative models.
The new lawsuits add to a series of legal proceedings by the music industry against developers of generative audio systems. Previously, major record labels had already brought similar claims against the service as part of copyright protection efforts.
A practical consequence of this process could be stricter requirements for the datasets used to train musical neural networks and new restrictions on the commercial use of such generators.
