The Autistici/Inventati collective is shutting down its services
September 16, 2026
Italian technology collective Autistici/Inventati has announced the immediate shutdown of all its digital services. The decision was made after the organization was listed on registers classifying its activities as a security threat, making it impossible to continue operating the infrastructure.
The project team stated that the priority is to protect user data and prevent legal risks. For many years, the collective has provided tools for ensuring privacy, including secure email, VPN, and hosting, working on the principles of self-financing and independence from corporate structures.
At the moment, all servers and services maintained by Autistici/Inventati have been switched to shutdown mode. Users are recommended to export their personal data and transfer communications to alternative platforms as soon as possible, as access to accounts will be completely closed soon.
This incident marks the end of the long history of one of the oldest independent projects specializing in digital rights protection. The closure of such a large-scale infrastructure sets a precedent for pressure on non-profit organizations providing tools for anonymity and encryption on the network.
