Qualcomm introduced the Adreno X2 GPU architecture

Company Qualcomm revealed technical specifications of the Adreno X2 graphics processor integrated into the Snapdragon X2 Elite chip set, new solution demonstrates significant increase in computational power compared to the previous generation architecture. Graphical block is equipped with 8 shader processors working at a clock frequency of 1.85 GHz, according to analysis results theoretical throughput of Adreno X2 is almost doubled compared to its predecessor, to achieve peak performance architecture requires high level of parallelism when executing tasks. During testing GPU showed result of 15 points for 10 hours of load, at the same time hardware implementation does not support double precision FP64 calculations which is an important limitation for specific scientific calculations but does not affect standard rendering and graphics processing tasks.
