September 14, 2026

Elon Musk has officially dropped claims against Apple in an ongoing antitrust lawsuit, the lawsuit, filed in August 2025, initially accused the tech giant and OpenAI developer of creating an illegal monopoly through the exclusive integration of the chatbot into the iOS operating system. Despite dropping claims against the iPhone manufacturer, the lawsuit against OpenAI is proceeding in full, Musk insists that the partnership between the companies restricts competition in the market for generative models and creates unfair advantages for specific players, the plaintiff's legal strategy is now focused exclusively on the activities of the ChatGPT developer. The proceedings began after Apple announced a deep integration of AI technologies into its devices, the plaintiff argued that such agreements block access for other developers to the Apple ecosystem, however, after a series of hearings, Apple was able to find legal grounds to exit the case, the court continues to consider the arguments of the parties regarding the impact of the deal on market competition. This step marks a change in tactics in the prolonged conflict between Musk and OpenAI management, excluding Apple from the list of defendants may accelerate the consideration of the case on the merits, as the court's focus narrows to the interaction between model creators and their corporate partners.
