Amazon blocked access of Meta's AI agent Muse to its marketplace
Amazon has officially restricted the operation of Meta's new Muse AI agent, which was designed to automate the shopping process and can no longer interact with the product catalog on amazon.com.
The technical block was implemented through an update of security protocols that recognize requests from the agent as unauthorized traffic. According to industry experts, Muse used data parsing methods to search for products and place orders on behalf of the user. Amazon justifies the decision by protecting user data and preventing server overload caused by automated scripts.
The incident highlights the growing tension between developers of autonomous AI agents and major retailers. While Meta seeks to integrate Muse into its service ecosystem to simplify shopping, platform owners fear losing direct control over the customer experience and advertising revenue.
So far, Meta has not provided official comments on the possibility of bypassing these restrictions. The situation creates a precedent for future disputes over the right of AI agents to access public commercial platforms without a direct partnership agreement.
