SK Hynix has sold out its memory supply through 2029
October 28, 2026

South Korean component manufacturer SK Hynix has reported that its production capacity is almost entirely sold out through 2029. The cause of this global shortage is a sharp rise in demand for specialized memory chips required for artificial intelligence infrastructure.
Extreme demand from data centers and neural network developers has resulted in all available silicon production volumes being booked years in advance. The manufacturer is physically unable to scale production to meet market needs.
The current situation creates serious risks for the entire hardware supply chain. Delays and component shortages may affect server and consumer electronics manufacturers that depend on modern memory modules.
