OpenAI introduces Pando for scaling Git
OpenAI has developed its own version control system, Pando. It is a horizontally scalable backend for Git, created to solve performance issues when working with large engineering teams.
The new architecture reduces latency for push commands by 5 times. The system is capable of processing and delivering up to a petabyte of data daily, while maintaining full compatibility with the standard Git client.
The need for this development arose due to the growth of the codebase and infrastructure loads within the company. Existing solutions could not handle the volumes of information generated by researchers and developers.
The implementation of Pando allows the company's engineers to accelerate the code integration process and avoid delays when working simultaneously on large-scale artificial intelligence projects.
