Goldman Sachs has banned traders from using AI tools

Investment bank Goldman Sachs has completely restricted access to automated coding tools for traders and bankers. Now, only the company's professional engineers are permitted to use generative software.
The restrictions affect popular development assistants, including Claude Code and GitHub Copilot. As recently as July, Chief Information Officer Marco Argenti publicly supported the practice of so-called "vibe coding" among employees without a technical background.
The bank's management decided to reverse its previous course due to security concerns. The company cites productivity improvements and strict risk management as the official reasons for the policy change.
This move by a major financial institution demonstrates a retreat from experiments in mass adoption of generative technologies among non-technical staff in favor of strict control over source code.
