Microsoft is winding down its cloud capacity rental deal with Oracle
November 6, 2026
Microsoft is ending its partnership agreement with Oracle, under which it rented computing power for artificial intelligence tasks.
The agreement between the corporations provided for the provision of cloud infrastructure to scale AI systems. The decision to wind down the joint project was made against the backdrop of changing infrastructure spending strategies and the development of the tech giant's own data centers.
Moving away from external rental capacity will allow the company to reallocate resources and optimize costs amid growing infrastructure needs for machine learning.
