Goldman Sachs has restricted employee access to Claude Code

Investment bank Goldman Sachs has restricted the use of the Claude Code tool from Anthropic. Access is now limited exclusively to the organization's engineers.

The restrictions affect traders and banking staff who were using the tool for market modeling and tracking client operations. Management made this decision amid concerns regarding information security and actual productivity metrics.

Similar measures have been applied to Microsoft's GitHub tool, the use of which has also been narrowed down to specialized technical staff. The financial institution is tightening control over the integration of third-party generative technologies into its workflows.

Such steps by the major financial sector demonstrate the growing caution banks are exercising toward autonomous development and data analysis tools. The implementation of AI in critical departments now requires stricter compliance procedures and risk assessments.
