Developers introduced RimAgent for autonomous management of the colony in RimWorld

A team of enthusiasts has released RimAgent — a specialized AI agent designed for autonomous playthrough of RimWorld. The system integrates with the game engine via modification, allowing the language model to make decisions on settlement development in real-time.
The core of RimAgent is based on a learning mechanism from previous gaming sessions. The agent analyzes the results of each iteration to adjust the survival strategy, optimize base layout, and distribute resources among colonists. The project uses LLM to interpret game events and form a sequence of commands.
The tool provides an API for interacting with the game world, transmitting data on the state of the colony and receiving control signals. The developers have implemented a feedback system where the success or failure of the settlement becomes an input parameter for improving decision-making algorithms in subsequent runs. The project's source code is published on GitHub under a free license.
The emergence of such agents demonstrates the possibilities of applying LLM in complex simulation environments with long-term planning. Unlike simple scripts, RimAgent is able to adapt to changing game conditions, making it a tool for exploring reinforcement learning methods in game mechanics.
