Apple released macOS 27 Golden Gate with mandatory AI requirements

Company Apple officially introduced the macOS 27 Golden Gate operating system, which completely stops supporting Intel processors. Now the system requires exclusively Apple Silicon architecture, starting with the M1 series chips.
The key change was the introduction of mandatory integration of Apple Intelligence into the system core. To access advanced artificial intelligence features, users now need devices based on M3 or newer processors, as well as at least 12 GB of RAM. Devices with less memory or older chips are limited in using new intelligent features.
The update also makes changes to the system architecture, optimizing work with Apple's neural engines. During testing, the system showed an increase in performance when performing local data processing tasks, however, the tightening of hardware requirements excludes a significant part of the Mac computer park released before 2023 from the support cycle.
The transition to macOS 27 marks the final abandonment of x86 architecture support in the company's desktop solutions. Users whose devices do not meet the new specifications will not be able to access critical security updates and new features related to local processing of AI models.
