XREAL has announced the AURA XR glasses powered by Android XR

XREAL has introduced AURA — the first tethered mixed reality glasses based on the Android XR platform. The new device is designed for everyday use and offers users advanced spatial computing capabilities.

The headset is equipped with displays featuring a 70-degree field of view. A portable compute puck is used for graphics processing and running resource-intensive tasks, connecting via a cable to ensure high performance.

The software features deep integration with the Google ecosystem, including direct support for the Gemini assistant for voice commands and contextual analysis of the surrounding environment.

The glasses expand the lineup of consumer devices supporting Android XR and provide developers with a new hardware format for creating spatial applications.
