Study shows 90% public negativity toward data centers

A large-scale study, America on Data Centers, has been published, analyzing over 10,000 comments from city council meetings in the U.S. The analysis showed that **90.5%** of local residents oppose the construction of new computing facilities.
The primary reasons for public dissatisfaction were water consumption, cited by **36%** of respondents, and a potential decline in quality of life, noted in **34%** of the comments. The only social group that largely supports the construction of infrastructure for artificial intelligence is union workers.
The findings demonstrate significant social resistance to the expansion of data center infrastructure at the local level. This creates additional regulatory and legal risks for tech companies planning large-scale capacity increases.
