The New York Times has sued the developers of the Brave browser

The The New York Times, along with a group of other media outlets, has filed a lawsuit against the company behind the Brave browser. The plaintiffs accuse the software developers of illegally scraping data to train artificial intelligence systems and providing users with features to bypass paywalls.
In addition to the main newspaper, the plaintiffs also include the New York Daily News and the Chicago Tribune. According to court documents, the browser employs technologies that allow for the automatic extraction of subscription-protected content and the use of publishers' materials in violation of their established licensing restrictions.
The lawsuit was filed in federal court. Details of the claims and the texts of the complaints have been published in reports by Reuters.
This proceeding continues a series of legal actions by media corporations against developers of technology products that use press materials without the explicit permission of the copyright holders.
