Amazon has added text search and ordering to Alexa for Shopping

Amazon has announced the introduction of a new feature to its AI assistant Alexa for Shopping. Users can now make purchases and create shopping lists using text messages and photos.

The new tool allows users to send text descriptions of desired items or upload photos of products they are interested in to the assistant. In response to the request, the AI searches the Amazon catalog and sends back suitable options with recommendations. As the company noted, this feature will be rolled out to millions of users in the coming weeks.

The feature is designed to simplify the process of searching for and ordering products from smartphones without the need for voice control. Previously, the company also developed similar AI-based technologies, including the Rufus assistant.

The innovation expands the ways customers can interact with the marketplace, providing an alternative method for placing orders via chat.
