Startup ScrollEd turns textbooks into an interactive tape

Startup ScrollEd introduced a platform that transforms traditional educational materials into an infinite vertical feed format. The project, founded by Utsav Gupta and Rebecca Neff, was showcased at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference.
The system automatically reprocesses text content into an interactive stream combining short videos, audio fragments, and embedded tests. This approach aims to increase student engagement by using familiar social media interfaces to deliver academic information.
The tool uses algorithms to segment long texts into short blocks adapted for mobile devices. Users can switch between different types of content within a single section, allowing them to combine reading with viewing visual explanations and checking knowledge in real-time.
The developers are targeting the education sector, seeking to lower the barrier to entry for complex disciplines through gamification of material delivery. The platform supports integration with existing curricula, allowing teachers to upload their own materials for automatic conversion into the new format.
The shift from static pages to dynamic content reflects a general trend towards adapting educational technologies to the habits of a generation that grew up on short video formats. The implementation of such solutions changes the way people interact with educational literature, making the learning process more interactive and personalized.
