Developers introduced FoxDev Studio for running Visual FoxPro
A team of enthusiasts has released FoxDev Studio — a new 64-bit development environment designed to run outdated Visual FoxPro 9 applications on modern operating systems.
The tool allows executing legacy code without the need for migration or rewriting. The solution is based on a runtime environment written in Rust and utilizing WebAssembly technology to emulate the original FoxPro behavior. This ensures compatibility with existing databases and business logic created before Microsoft discontinued support for the platform in 2007.
The developers of FoxDev Studio focused on preserving native performance when working with forms and reports. The system supports modern security standards, allowing the integration of old solutions into current IT infrastructures without risking system stability.
The emergence of such tools enables companies to extend the life cycle of critical software that previously required the use of virtual machines or outdated hardware. The solution is available for deployment on modern desktop platforms, providing support for 64-bit architecture.
