Comfy-Org has released the Idol model for 3D object generation

The Comfy-Org team has introduced Idol, a specialized model for generating 3D content from images. The tool is integrated into the ComfyUI ecosystem and is based on the TripoSplat architecture, allowing users to create three-dimensional objects directly within their generation workflow.

For the system to function correctly, specific weights must be downloaded, including the idol_fp16.safetensors and dino_v3_vit_h_bf16.safetensors files. These components must be placed in strictly defined directories within the ComfyUI project structure. The model is designed for local use, which requires appropriate hardware for processing 3D data.

The integration of Idol into ComfyUI simplifies 3D asset creation for artists and developers working with generative tools. Using ready-made nodes allows for the automation of the process of converting 2D images into 3D models without the need to switch between third-party software.
